The Chrisofix® Chest Splint is an effective, safe and easy to use device for the treatment of rib fractures. It quickly reduces pain and helps improve lung capacity reducing the risk of Pneumonia and other complications.
The splint is for a single use of about ten days. For longer treatment a new splint might be necessary. Made since 2004 it is used all over the world. It is not a rib wrap, it immobilises the fractured ribs to help them heal.
The main component of the splint is a thin, corrugated aluminium core covered with non allergenic polyethylene foil and cotton laminated polyethylene coat. It is comfortable to wear, hypoallergenic and X-ray transparent.
Two sizes are available. Small S (12 x 17 cm) for 1-3 fractured ribs. Large L (17 x 17 cm) for 3 or more fractured ribs . The splint is easy to apply securely in the correct position on the body. You form it to suit your body and it the sticks to your skin.
Respiratory functional tests were conducted on Chrisofix® treated patients. The figure attached shows that improvement of the forced vital capacity (lung capacity) became significantly accelerated starting as early as within the first hour of the treatment.
